Review: Ninjago Destiny’s Wing (70650)

Time to end my summer-break with a review that just wants to be written. Especially if you look at my last post. Lets indulge in some dieselpunk goodness with Destiny’s Wing! While I am not really interested and the Ninjago TV series, or know much about it beyond the basics, and the media buzz around… Read More Review: Ninjago Destiny’s Wing (70650)

Review: Detective’s Office (10246)

Please Note: This post took me a long time to finish. Not the writing. That usually goes pretty quick. As it did here. But the photos… I finally got them in a quality I can approve. Mostly! Enjoy! Hardboiled detective stories are an all-time favourite of mine. Novels like Raymond Chandler’s The Big Sleep or… Read More Review: Detective’s Office (10246)

Review: Lego City Fire Starter Set (60106)

Smoooke on the water – fire on the pier: that’s clearly a clearly a case for the Lego City coastal firefighter squad. Being a starter set, it follows the current fashion of providing pleny of Minifigures (three firefighters and a harbour worker), with a healthy amount of accessories and two small builds that clearly set… Read More Review: Lego City Fire Starter Set (60106)

Review: Ninjago City Chase (70607)

Sometimes you find a set that just says loud and clear YES! to you. And if you look at the price tag, the YES! gets even a little bit louder. The Ninjago City Chase is one of these sets. It proves the point that a good, if not excellent, set doesn’t needs to cost 70+… Read More Review: Ninjago City Chase (70607)

Not Quite a Review: The Vermillion Attack (70621)

Some sets I only buy because of certain pieces. Like this one. It contains two so-called “Vermillion Warriors” (hence the name of the set) and some really cool pieces of armour. The rest? Never mind really. I didn’t even bother to keep this set assembled for taking photos. The two Vermillion Warrior Minifigures are really… Read More Not Quite a Review: The Vermillion Attack (70621)

Review: Jungle Starter Set (60157)

Starter sets are a typical gateway drug. Ideally they represent the very essence of the theme and offer an instant and quite appealing, low-price access to it. And – ideally for Lego – making you crave for more. This year above ideal has been very much reached if you ask me. Quite easily actually. You… Read More Review: Jungle Starter Set (60157)

Review: Ninjago Jay’s Elemental Dragon (70602)

Now this is one of the more unusual Sky Pirate sets, without a weird steampunk/dieselpunk flying machine for the baddies dominating the scene. Here, the good guys have definitely the advantage. With a glorious, flashy (pun of course intended) lightning dragon! And its really an impressive beast. Quite sizeable and, just like its smaller cousin, Cole’s… Read More Review: Ninjago Jay’s Elemental Dragon (70602)

Review: Y-Wing Starfighter (75172)

Rogue One was quite a box office success, its Lego-sets not so much. While that’s not so good for TLG’s profit projections, it is a nice opportunity for us customers to get a set or two, that would be otherwise prohibitively costly. Like this lovely Y-Wing. When assembling it, which went just as expected without… Read More Review: Y-Wing Starfighter (75172)

Classic Space Starfighter

Amongst other things I was busy with building a successor to the Andromeda, a project that is, with all its redesigns challenges and more redesigns, definitely worth a longer post on its own. But today I show you what I built immediately after I finished it (for now!). Contrary to the Andromeda II, this one… Read More Classic Space Starfighter

Review: Lego City Money Transporter (60142)

The Money Transporter was one of the new City sets released this year that got my immediate attention, only second to the Pizza Van (which I reviewed back in late February, gosh – time flies!). A couple of weeks ago I finally got it. Lets find out if it can hold up to my expectations.… Read More Review: Lego City Money Transporter (60142)
