Review: Ninjago Destiny’s Wing (70650)

Time to end my summer-break with a review that just wants to be written. Especially if you look at my last post. Lets indulge in some dieselpunk goodness with Destiny’s Wing! While I am not really interested and the Ninjago TV series, or know much about it beyond the basics, and the media buzz around… Read More Review: Ninjago Destiny’s Wing (70650)

Review: Detective’s Office (10246)

Please Note: This post took me a long time to finish. Not the writing. That usually goes pretty quick. As it did here. But the photos… I finally got them in a quality I can approve. Mostly! Enjoy! Hardboiled detective stories are an all-time favourite of mine. Novels like Raymond Chandler’s The Big Sleep or… Read More Review: Detective’s Office (10246)

Oldschool MOC: Ulf’s Garage

What do you do when you have too many old white bricks, that have yellowed to a point where they are really more tan like white? Yes, of course you could use hydrogen peroxide to whiten them again… but apart from that, if you don’t really want all the hassle? Build something that looks suitingly… Read More Oldschool MOC: Ulf’s Garage

Review: Ninjago City Chase (70607)

Sometimes you find a set that just says loud and clear YES! to you. And if you look at the price tag, the YES! gets even a little bit louder. The Ninjago City Chase is one of these sets. It proves the point that a good, if not excellent, set doesn’t needs to cost 70+… Read More Review: Ninjago City Chase (70607)

Not Quite a Review: The Vermillion Attack (70621)

Some sets I only buy because of certain pieces. Like this one. It contains two so-called “Vermillion Warriors” (hence the name of the set) and some really cool pieces of armour. The rest? Never mind really. I didn’t even bother to keep this set assembled for taking photos. The two Vermillion Warrior Minifigures are really… Read More Not Quite a Review: The Vermillion Attack (70621)

The Queen of the Aces

I found my Sky Pirates were missing one thing: a really evil looking, dieselpunk propeller fighter plane. Something that spells aggression and power, and fits to their fleet of (quite ramshackle looking) contraptions… a flying hotrod! I combined the front area and cockpit from an S.E.5a biplane with the wing shape and silhouette of… Read More The Queen of the Aces

Review: Ninjago Jay’s Elemental Dragon (70602)

Now this is one of the more unusual Sky Pirate sets, without a weird steampunk/dieselpunk flying machine for the baddies dominating the scene. Here, the good guys have definitely the advantage. With a glorious, flashy (pun of course intended) lightning dragon! And its really an impressive beast. Quite sizeable and, just like its smaller cousin, Cole’s… Read More Review: Ninjago Jay’s Elemental Dragon (70602)

Review: Ninjago Sky Shark (70601)

One thing I really appreciate from the Sky Pirates sub-theme is its wild blend of steampunk/dieselpunk elements with the classical pirates-look. The Lego designers did a great job with the Raid Zeppelin and the Misfortune’s Keep (mostly), so lets have a closer look at the Sky Shark. With the Ninjago Movie just around the corner… Read More Review: Ninjago Sky Shark (70601)

Review: Lego City Money Transporter (60142)

The Money Transporter was one of the new City sets released this year that got my immediate attention, only second to the Pizza Van (which I reviewed back in late February, gosh – time flies!). A couple of weeks ago I finally got it. Lets find out if it can hold up to my expectations.… Read More Review: Lego City Money Transporter (60142)

The Return of Blacktron! (Part 2)

Astrid’s Starfighter might be fast and stealthy, but an interstellar crime syndicate needs also some serious firepower to run their business. This is where the Blacktron Marauder comes into play: a small, but heavily armed corvette. Ideal for lightning fast attacks that hammer down your shields and have you facing a boarding commando taking every… Read More The Return of Blacktron! (Part 2)
